Senior Emergency Management

Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County takes very seriously our commitment to clients in providing uninterrupted service. However, two factors can affect our ability to deliver as promised.

Our contract kitchen may for various reasons not be operating. Inclement weather including severe storms and winter ice buildup may cause the kitchen to be closed. A primary concern of MOWSS has to be the safety of our drivers Should traffic and road conditions be unsafe for the volunteers, we don’t put them in harm’s way.

Those same conditions may affect the ability of older adults to secure food outside the home. Each home-deliver client has an Emergency Food Box delivered to them that contains a three- to five-day supply of stable shelflife food. The box is renewed as necessary and supplies are distributed twice annually. Should their normal delivery be interrupted, a phone notification is made to each person, instructing them to use their emergency supply.

Because you care, we are able to deliver Emergency Food in addition to weekly meals.
