I’d like you to meet Ann. Over 30 years ago Ann and her husband fell in love with Rockwall and made it their home. Ann was a schoolteacher and devoted many years of hard work and dedication to educating local children. After retiring, Ann became a Meals on Wheels volunteer driver.
For nearly 8 years, she delivered meals to the seniors of Rockwall County. “I volunteered because I knew that I would want someone to do the same for me.” Now, her husband has passed and Ann is unable to drive. These days, Meals on Wheels volunteers visit her. She cannot visit friends or go to the grocery store as she used to. Frail and unable to cook, Ann depends
upon Meals on Wheels, not only to deliver meals to her doorstep, but to help maintain her independence.
“I am so lucky to have someone come right to my door every weekday and bring me a meal. The volunteers are so kind and sometimes they are the only people I see all day.”
Each year more people like Ann depend on Meals on Wheels, which provides more than 60,000 meals annually to homebound seniors and citizens with disabilities living in Rockwall County – delivered completely by volunteers who donate their time and mileage. This holiday season, Meals on Wheels is asking for your support. Your generous donation will truly make a difference, and is a beautiful way to give back to a generation who has paved the way for us. Ann agrees,
“It’s important to give back to others, because you never know when you might need a little help too.”
Please give your support to fight isolation and make a promise to the seniors of Rockwall County that they will never have to worry about where their next meal will come from…and that they will never have to worry about being alone or forgotten. On behalf of the hundreds of Rockwall County elderly fed by Meals on Wheels, thank you!
Your donation is helping to make Rockwall County healthier. Right here. Right now.
